Neptune enters Aries (again)
On January 26th, 2026, Neptune will leave her home sign and watery depths of Pisces and enter fiery Aries.
Neptune's entrance into Aries begins both a new 14-year cycle as well as a brand new 165-year-cycle through the Zodiac, that’ll reshape our collective dreams, ideals, beliefs, spiritual direction, and more through the lens of courage and identity.
Neptune’s official shift into Aries signals the dawn of a new era, one that will call us to break free from the illusions, fantasies, and deceptions that’ve clouded our perception for far too long.
This moment stands as the official beginning of a new and profound generational turning point, pulling us into the raw, fiery terrain of Aries for the first time in over a century.
Neptune is the planet of collective ideals, spirituality, mysticism, aspirations, dreams, intuition, imagination, and is known to heighten our emotions and inspire compassion, creativity, and sometimes confusion.
Neptune in Pisces draped everything in fog to try to soothe, slow, and soften everything. She dissolves certainty and timelines, heightens imagination, and enhances spiritual awareness.
Now, as of January 26th, 2026, Neptune officially entered the raw, fiery terrain of Aries until May 21st, 2038, for the first time since the 1870's.
Neptune in Aries will inspire us to take assertive action on our dreams, actively take the lead in creating our own reality, and help us embody our visions with drive and determination.
After spending over a decade in her home, Neptune in Pisces has woven a world of illusion, fantasy, heightened sensitivity, collective awareness, and spiritual enlightenment. As the most mystical planet ingresses into Aries, the ethereal waters of Pisces give way to the raging fire of Aries, bringing an undeniable energy shift that we’ll feel both physically and mentally.
Physically, we may feel restless as our bodies fuel the flames of our burning desire to pursue our ideals and rights with passion rather than wishful thinking. Mentally, this transit sparks innovative new ways of thinking, as Neptune’s visionary nature fuses with Aries’ pioneering spirit.
However, this combination also holds the potential for impulsive idealism, where our dreams become something we fight for without fully understanding what, why, or how.
The dreamy, boundless, and introspective energy of Pisces will now be replaced with an urgent desire for action, individuality, and self-determined faith, Aries. Where Pisces encouraged surrender and dissolution, Aries will now demand assertion and initiation.
Aside from Pluto entering Aquarius, this is genuinely one of the most significant astrological shifts of our lifetime. As a Professional Astrologer (who focused primarily on History in school), the historical similarities are incredibly eerie and frightening.
Historically, the last time Neptune was in Aries (1861–1875), the world saw immense upheaval and radical shifts in identity, warfare, and innovation. In the U.S., the American Civil War erupted as tensions over freedom and power reached a breaking point.
Globally, this era was marked by revolutions and movements that challenged the old order. As Neptune reenters Aries in the modern age, we’re witnessing eerily similar themes of battle over ideological beliefs, trailblazing advancements, and a redefinition of personal and collective autonomy. This transit will wake us up and encourage us to take bold action toward our dreams and reshape the future with courage and conviction.
The last time Neptune entered Aries in 1861, the United States was on the brink of the Civil War, a period marked by deep ideological and moral divides over slavery, state rights, and the very definition of freedom. The war fundamentally reshaped the country, abolished slavery, redefined the political landscape, and more.
In 2026, the U.S. finds itself facing another era of extreme polarization, with rising tensions over civil rights, democracy, immigration, and federal vs. state power at a breaking point. The parallels between the 1860s and now suggest another period of reckoning. Either one that could deepen the existing divisions or lead to a significant transformation and improvement.
Globally, Neptune in Aries in the 1860s saw a wave of revolutions, movements, and wars that redefined nations.
Italy was unifying, Japan started the radical Meiji Restoration, and France was in political flux under Napoleon III. Fast forward to 2026, and the world is again witnessing revolutionary uprising, rising nationalism, and dramatic shifts in governance.
With conflicts simmering across various regions, the stage is being prepped and set for potential political restructuring and ideological clashes.
The last time Neptune was in Aries, it coincided with advancements in warfare (ships revolutionizing naval combat and rifles replacing muskets). The modern equivalent could be the spread of mass misinformation, tech-driven warfare, cyber conflicts, and space-related militarization.
The 1860s were a time of radical change in how people viewed personal and collective freedom. Enslaved people were emancipated, workers’ rights movements were gaining traction, immigration laws were being promoted, women's rights activists were laying the groundwork for future progress, and so much more.
In 2026, we are in a similarly transformative era, where issues of bodily autonomy, human rights, immigration laws, and systemic oppression are once again at the forefront. Just like before, Neptune in Aries will begin to challenge existing power structures and redefine what freedom truly means.
As I previously stated, the Historical significance of Neptune’s transits can be very strange and eerie. We unfortunately already know that we’re stepping into an era of great upheaval and experiencing important moments of immense potential for reinvention.
With this ingress, we should mentally and emotionally prepare in any way we can for this to be an action-driven period that pushes our society in new directions.
This specific transit has coincided with war, revolution, and ideological battles that have completely redefined nations. The parallels of then and now suggest the coming years will be just as defining, forcing us to fight for our beliefs and pioneer a new path.
Neptune changing signs is astrologically huge, and I could write pages and pages about it. However, to keep the information digestible, this shift may feel like we’re suddenly waking up the morning after an insane night out. We may feel tired, angry, or disoriented, as we find ourselves in strange, unfamiliar landscapes, with no real map as to how we got ourselves here.
As we move with Neptune in Aries, his fire will shed light onto the illusions we’ve believed to be true, exposing where we’ve been misguided with lies and deception, and confused fantasy for faith.
With Neptune in Aries, we’re called to dream with our eyes open and remain ready to act when needed with only a moment’s notice. This transit asks us to align ourselves with our greater cosmic purpose and step forward with passion, conviction, and fearless self-expression.
We are at the very start of a new 165-year cycle that promises to completely transform the world as we know it.
All 12 Signs will feel this, but the Cardinal Signs - Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn - will feel this transit the most. These are the years that Neptune will be impacting our personal lives, depending on the degrees of our Cardinal Sign placements:
0º - 9º : 2025 - 2029
10º - 19º: 2030 - 2034
20º - 29º: 2034 - 2039
As always, let me know your thoughts, and if you’d like to hear about more historical similarities.
